Other Gemstones

For centuries, coloured gemstones have fascinated mankind. Once they were only reserved for the ruling classes, now they are affordable to everyone.

In the past, gemstones were thought to have supernatural powers and were even used as medicine. Sometimes the mere presence of a stone was thought to be sufficient to effect a cure, or one could be placed on the body or it was ground into powder and eaten! Even today, calcium tablets made out of powdered pearls are sold in Japan!

Due to their mystical properties, a link with astrology was also formed and gemstones were allocated to signs of the zodiac. These are now better known as Birthstones.

As well as diamond jewellery we also keep a large stock of coloured gemstones which has become increasingly popular in recent years.
